Squarewell's Record Labels Past and Present

Do not miss out on getting to know Squarewell! This metal-infused emo band from Louisville, Kentucky is defunct - but their music lives on through a debut album released in 2008 bearing the band's moniker, "Squarewell." The album gives listeners a healthy fusion of rock and punk indie spirit, much in the form of indie bands such as Chamberlain, Elliott and Thursday.

Debut record

Shrodinger Records and Engineer Records co-released Squarewell's debut album in 2008. It features four songs that incorporate heavy rock and punk music into an original, independent album including "Elementary," "Did We Have a Choice," "Pacing a Perimeter," and "It's Fall, But Nothing Has Changed." The band toured briefly in Europe in 2005.

You can listen to the music on Squarewell's MySpace page, which was active at the time time of this article's writing. Engineer Records released a DVD featuring Squarewell's song "It's Fall but Nothing has Changed" in an effort to promote the indie punk band. However, the DVD is no longer available on the Engineer website.

Parting words

Squarewell band members posted these parting words on their MySpace page: "We are keeping our Myspace page active and are going to use it to update everyone on new musical projects from each of the band members. Everyone in the band is going to continue playing music in some way..." The last active login for the page was in September 2011.

Squarewell is no longer listed as an Engineer Records-endorsed band. However, the frontmen of Squarewell, Martin Jeff and Matt Bryan, vow to continue pursuing independent music projects and to post those projects on their MySpace page.
